Taking pictures of musicians is really, really challenging. Having played in various groups and bands over the years (flute and saxophone), the last thing you want as a musician is someone like me coming in and disturbing your rehearsal or performance.
That being said, when I'm tasked by a group like Sestina I always jump at the chance. There's not much better than being hired by musicians to come and take photos. I get to practise my craft, whilst they practise theirs and I get to listen to the music at the same time.
Soft shoes is the the secret to working with musicians. As long you're not tramping about making lots of noise then generally they're concentrating so much they don't notice you.
